June 29, 2016 - Orlando, FL

Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBSA) announced today during their national conference in Orlando that Big

Brothers Big Sisters of the Ozarks (BBBSO) earned the top honor of the 2016 Midsize Agency of the Year. BBBSA

presents this award annually to the small, midsize, and large agency that stands out in growth in end-active matches

(current Big and Little friendships), revenue increases, quality of service, match-length success, and overall performance.

In 2015, BBBSO created 17% more life-changing friendships between Bigs with Littles and raised over one million

dollars to increase revenue by over 22%. They are the only BBBS affiliate agency that practices the Great Game of

Business, which has been a driving force in helping their devoted staff reach top-speed for growth at all levels of the

Last year, the agency’s signature fundraising events—Taste of the Ozarks, Bowl for Kids’ Sake, and Ozarks Beerfest—

all enjoyed record-breaking numbers.

The agency also stands out through innovative programs like Lunch Buddies with Springfield Public Schools where

volunteers change the location of where they eat lunch once a week to change a child’s life for the better forever and

Mentoring 101 with OTC Middle College where volunteers work with a high school student to get that student college

or career ready.

“To receive the top recognition among our peers is not only an incredible honor, but it is also a testament to the hard

work of our dedicated and passionate staff,” said Katie Davis, CEO.

BBBSO was nominated for both the Board of the Year and the Agency of the Year awards for the first time in the

agency’s 33-year history. Sophie Pierpoint, the 2015 Missouri Big Sister of the Year, was also nominated for the

National Big Sister of the Year award. There are 306 BBBS affiliate agencies across the country.

“Receiving the Agency of the Year award is an amazing honor. We have a first class staff that cares passionately about

serving young people in Southwest Missouri. It is awesome to see their hard work recognized at a national level. In

addition to our amazing staff, this recognition is possible because of the tireless support of our Big Brothers, Big

Sisters, Board, Advisory Board, donors and community volunteers. I am honored to serve as president during this

exciting time for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ozarks,” said Marshall Kinne, Board President.
